A small ship by today's standards, m/s Regal Empress (Imperial Cruise Line), above, was the first-ever cruise ship in recent memory to visit Connecticut's Port of New London in September 2002. She’d visited previously another three times. m/s Orion (Travel Dynamics International) visited twice in 2004. m/s Veendam, at right (Holland America Line) called on New London for the first time on Sept. 28, 2007. m/s Explorer of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International), below right, enters Connecticut's Port of New London for the first time complete with a water-salute from a Thames Towboat Company tug on Sept. 1, 2007.
